Green Build: LEED - Platinum - Certified Home
Construction completed Summer 2010

As the first LEED house in Providence, Rhode Island, this high-performance home is a candidate for Platinum certification. Designed by Kite Architects, it incorporates a myriad of sustainable features, including a low-impact design that uses a high-percentage of recycled, reclaimed, and FSC-certified materials. We are also using a whole-house fan to expunge humidity in temperatures less than 84-degrees, nearly eliminating the need for a cooling system. To improve indoor air quality, we installed an energy recover ventilator (ERV) in tandem with our high-performance Smart Shell insulation package, which includes roof, ceiling, and exterior wall panels, energy-efficient windows, and exterior doors. The structural insulated panels (SIPs) used in our Smart Shell carry high R-values for the ultimate in energy efficiency. This property is nearly complete and LEED certification processes will soon be well on their way.  Read our blog to follow the progress as this property's construction wraps up and get more design details on our LEED home in Providence, Rhode Island.
